Full view of the accessible play center at Opportunity Park.

Located in Bowie, MD, USA, Opportunity Park is a fully accessible playground experience for children of all abilities. The playground features typical slides and climbing equipment, but also has activites that can be enjoyed whether the user is standing up or sitting in a wheelchair. The playground equipment is fully ramped, so that children with disabilities (and parents with disabilities, too) can be fully integrated into the playground experience.

The accessible path around Allen Pond Allen Pond is a fully stocked fishing pond with paddle boats, rowboats, and canoes available for rent. The fishing pier is wheelchair-accessible. A wheelchair-accessible path runs the full length of the pond, making it possible for wheelchair users to experience all park features to the fullest extent. At right, Trish and Diana feed the ducks together.

Photo of our donated brick in the walkway of Opportunity Park, reading 'Yes I Can! Opportunity Park was made possible by community support. Non-profit and civic organizations all contributed to making the park fully accessible. In addition, individuals and groups donated "bricks" in the walkway to help fund the project. Here's ours--it proudly proclams, "YES I CAN!"
